A separate data-revert radio can help when GPS reporting would otherwise compete with voice traffic on a busy radio system. The need depends on fleet size, location update intervals, radio technology, and available channel capacity.
GPS location reports use radio-system data capacity. More subscribers or more frequent reports increase that traffic. A dedicated data-revert channel/path can carry supported location traffic separately from the primary voice path.
For larger MOTOTRBO deployments, your dealer may also consider the radio system's Enhanced GPS capabilities and coordinate the subscriber, repeater, and control station settings. Kenwood configurations use their own supported data interfaces and requirements.
Provide the number of tracked radios, desired report interval, normal voice load, and system type when requesting a design. There is no universal subscriber count at which every installation requires the same solution.
A data-revert radio handles supported data traffic; it does not add another independently monitored voice channel.
