Can a dispatcher see which radios are available or have missed calls in one view?

Last updated:

Yes. A RadioPro Dispatch Subscriber Grid can display a configured group of radio contacts with activity, availability and missed-call indications in one view. It is useful when an operator needs a consistent view of a particular fleet or department.

A presence indication does not establish a worker’s safety or prove that an instruction was heard.

  1. Create a subscriber group in Contacts, using the correct radio IDs, contact types and aliases.
  2. Add a Subscriber Grid tab and associate it with that group.
  3. Check any assigned Gateway/channel for each contact. An incorrect assignment can make a grid control use the wrong radio path.
  4. Test the grid's status changes and supported right-click actions with known radios.

The documented states distinguish idle/available, idle/unavailable, transmitting, receiving and missed calls. Depending on configuration and version, contact actions include replaying recent incoming audio, clearing a status, opening a location map, sending a call alert and querying a channel.

Read availability as a software observation. Where presence comes from ARS, it reflects registration and refresh behavior. A radio that loses battery power or moves out of RF coverage may not explicitly deregister. An available icon therefore does not prove that a person is safe, attentive or currently able to answer.

Keep the contact group and aliases maintained as radios change hands. Use Radio Check or an actual call, where supported, when the operator needs a current reachability test.
