What is RadioPro Link, and when would I use it?

Last updated:

RadioPro Link is CTI's remote-connectivity service for a provisioned RadioPro IP Gateway. It provides a stable endpoint name that compatible clients use instead of tracking the site's changing public IP address.

The endpoint is separate from the site’s changing public IP. Radio equipment and RF coverage are still required.

A typical reason to use Link is a Starlink or cellular connection behind carrier-grade NAT (CGNAT), where ordinary inbound port forwarding cannot reach the Gateway. It can also simplify a deployment on a conventional wired internet connection.

How the connection is used

  1. CTI provisions the Gateway and assigns its Link endpoint.
  2. The Gateway connects through the site's approved internet service.
  3. Dispatch, Solo, Talk or ICU uses the supplied endpoint and compatible connection settings.
  4. Gateway accounts, client permissions and the applicable RadioPro licenses continue to govern use.

Link does not provide the internet circuit, replace the control station or enlarge the radios' RF coverage. The Gateway needs working internet access, and the control station must still reach the field radios. Link also introduces a dependency on the provisioned service path for connections using that endpoint.

Ask CTI or your authorized dealer to confirm the Gateway/client versions, service provisioning and current commercial terms. A Gateway is not Link-enabled simply because it has an internet connection.
