Can RadioPro send an alert tone before a voice announcement?

Last updated:

Yes. RadioPro Dispatch can be configured to send a single or dual alert tone before a voice call using a custom Audio Call action. Tone settings belong to that action, so the operator can use a defined announcement control instead of generating a tone manually.

Conceptual sequence. Tone-before-voice does not establish compatibility with every pager protocol.

  1. Enter Edit mode and open Options → Dispatch Settings → Actions.
  2. Create an Audio Call action with the wizard. Select the required audio/channel-access settings.
  3. On the Audio Tones step, choose the single- or dual-tone option and its duration. Test the tone using the wizard.
  4. Choose the intended contact and Gateways, finish the action and give it a clear name.
  5. Associate the action with a supported toolbar button or PTT device, save the configuration, return to operating mode and test the complete tone-and-voice call.

Menu wording can vary by version. A facility might use a tone to draw attention before a routine spoken instruction; the selected radio channels and their RF coverage still determine who can receive it.

Keep the distinction between an alert tone before voice, an emergency radio-signaling action and a pager-specific signaling protocol. A requirement for Quik-Call, stacked paging, a repeating tone or fire-station alerting needs its own compatibility check. Do not assume that choosing a dual tone automatically supports every pager format.
