Can a dispatcher make one announcement across several radio channels?

Last updated:

Yes. RadioPro Dispatch provides Call Selected and All Call workflows for announcements to configured channels. The system needs an independent control-station/Gateway voice path for each channel that must be accessed independently.

Call Selected and All Call choose the configured paths. Busy channels may receive queued audio later.

All CallSend an announcement to the channels included in the configured All Call action.
PatchBridge audio between configured radio paths so traffic can be shared. This is different from one dispatcher making an announcement.

For example, a shipping office could have separate warehouse and yard control stations. Selecting those two controllers lets the dispatcher address both departments through their own radio paths. One control station scanning two channels does not provide two simultaneous transmitters.

The User Guide describes All Call audio being queued for a busy channel and sent when that channel becomes clear. Consequently, recipients on different channels may hear the announcement at different times. Check the action's destinations and channel-access behavior in the installed version, and test a busy-channel case.

Radio coverage, a powered-on receiving radio and the system's programming still matter. An All Call button is not a delivery receipt or a guarantee that every employee heard the message.
