Which Motorola control-station radio should I use with RadioPro?

Last updated:

Choose a Motorola MOTOTRBO control station by the required RadioPro functions, radio-system type and Gateway generation. CTI's documentation includes XPR 2500, XPR 5550 and XPR 5550e control stations; the installation guide also contains XPR 5350 interface information. A listed model is not a guarantee of current sales availability.

Control-station selection considerations
Model / familyPlanning consideration
XPR 2500Documented voice interface; the CTI guide excludes this model from GPS/data-revert use. It needs its model-specific cable and Gateway audio configuration.
XPR 5550 / XPR 5550eDocumented control-station choices. Confirm firmware, system mode, voice/data role and the matching Gateway configuration.
Older XPR 4550 installationsHave legacy Gateway requirements. Do not assume an older donor radio will work with a current Debian-based Gateway.

The control station is a mobile radio installed at the radio site. It provides the RF connection to the field radios; it does not need to be installed beside each dispatcher. GPS mapping also depends on suitably equipped and programmed subscriber radios, the supported data path and licensing.

Leave the front microphone disconnected during RadioPro operation. Remove a front programming cable after programming and follow any required radio power-cycle step. The Gateway uses the rear accessory connection; the operator speaks through the PC or mobile client's microphone.

Before ordering, have your dealer confirm the currently recommended model, frequency band, system mode, firmware and Gateway generation. Include the interface cable, antenna, radio power supply and any separate data-revert radios in the equipment list.
