Can office staff talk to the factory floor without installing a radio and antenna at every desk?

Last updated:

Yes. Office users can access a compatible factory radio system from Windows PCs through a RadioPro IP Gateway and control station radio, rather than installing a separate transmitting radio and antenna at each desk.

Several PC users share the radio path; they do not create additional simultaneous radio channels.

Place the control station and antenna where they provide suitable radio coverage. The Gateway connects that radio to the IP network. Each office PC uses RadioPro Solo for simple access or RadioPro Dispatch for a fuller console with multiple Gateway connections and additional functions.

Each position needs a suitable microphone/headset or speakers, the appropriate software, and licensed access. Supported physical PTT devices can make desktop operation convenient. In nearby offices, configure audio levels and applicable cross-muting to reduce acoustic feedback and duplicate audio.

Several PC users do not create several independent radio channels. Users sharing a control station also share its current radio path and transmit availability. If production, maintenance, and shipping must be heard independently at the same time, plan separate control stations and Gateways for those paths.

This arrangement can simplify desktop equipment and move RF transmitting hardware away from occupied desks, but it still depends on the network, Gateway, control station, and their power supplies.
