What is the difference between radio dispatch software and CAD software?

Last updated:

Radio dispatch software controls communications; computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software manages incidents, assignments and operational records. An operator may use both at the same desk, but the applications have different responsibilities.

RadioPro Dispatch provides the radio-console side: voice access, supported radio control, mapping, messages and communications history. A commercial fleet can use those tools without purchasing a full incident-management system.

When another application needs RadioPro data, identify the exact supported interface. For example, RadioPro's licensed MultiSpeak capability can supply supported radio GPS information to a compatible receiving system, while its RTP recorder interface serves a separate purpose.

Do not assume that an application sharing the same PC or map has a general bidirectional CAD integration. Specify the required events, commands, identifiers, authentication and versions with both suppliers before selecting an interface.
