Can RadioPro Solo users talk to one another without using radio airtime?

Last updated:

Yes. RadioPro Solo's Intercom button allows Solo clients connected to the same Gateway to communicate without transmitting over the radio channel. The conversation uses the IP connection between the clients and Gateway.

The documented Solo intercom example stays on one Gateway; other client combinations need verification.

For example, an office user and a supervisor can discuss a job over intercom before making a radio call to the field crew. The Solo guide describes duplex intercom operation, allowing participating clients to speak and listen at the same time. That does not make the connected radio channel full duplex.

Each client still needs a working microphone/playback device, network connectivity and the applicable Gateway connection license. Test the receive levels used for audio from other PC users.

The documented example is Solo-to-Solo on one Gateway. Have CTI confirm any requirement involving different Gateways or mixed Solo, Dispatch and Talk clients rather than assuming the same participation rules apply.
