Why does changing a radio channel in one RadioPro client affect other users?

Last updated:

Clients connected to one RadioPro Gateway share its single voice control-station radio. When a supported client changes that donor radio's channel, every client on that Gateway follows the radio's newly selected channel.

For independent simultaneous channels, provide additional control-station / Gateway paths.

For example, two Solo users may both be connected to the warehouse Gateway. If one changes the donor from Warehouse to Maintenance, the radio now receives and transmits on Maintenance. The second PC has not gained a separate receiver that can remain on Warehouse.

How to provide independent access

Provide a separate control station and Gateway for each voice path that must remain independently available. Dispatch can connect to several appropriately licensed paths and let the operator select or monitor them. Solo connects to one Gateway at a time.

A scan list, a list of channels in the client and several client connections are different things from several independent voice radios. Scanning can miss traffic while the radio is busy elsewhere; more client seats do not create another RF receiver or transmitter.

Define who should change a shared channel and agree on an operating procedure. Ask CTI about the controls available in the installed version if channel-selection access needs to be restricted. Do not assume that hiding a channel alias or muting a PC changes the underlying shared-radio architecture.
